🌿 Ficus Ginseng bonsai – Microcarpa – Pot size Ø6 cm | The pocket Zen master – Average maintenance
Gnarled "ginseng" trunk with a mini crown: pocket-sized zen. Perfect for a desk, shelf, or that corner where you need to boost your productivity. Trainable (light wire work), pruning, and surprisingly forgiving—as long as you don't empty the watering can out of enthusiasm. 😉
✨ Appearance:
Sculptural thickened rootstock with glossy, small leaves; height usually 10–20 cm in pot Ø6 cm.
☀️ Location:
Bright, indirect light; 1–2 hours of soft morning sun is fine. Keep away from cold drafts or hot radiators. A permanent location reduces leaf drop.
💧 Water:
Drink—pause—drink: allow 1–2 cm of topsoil to dry. Always drain (empty the saucer). Winter: less often.
🐾 Pet meter:
Slightly toxic (latex in milky sap may irritate).
🧽 Maintenance (bonsai basics):
• Prune to 2–3 leaf pairs for compact branching (spring/autumn light).
• Feed once a month during the growing season, low dose (small pot = little fertilizer).
• Shape with soft bonsai wire (max. 6–8 weeks, check for constriction).
• Repot every 1–2 years in spring: bonsai mix (akadama/pumice/lava) or potting soil + coarse perlite.
✨ Details:
Light leaf drop after moving = normal. Yellow leaves? Often too wet or too little light. White film on leaves = limescale: remove with lukewarm water.
🚚 Shipping:
Secured in a bonsai-proof manner; trunk/crown protected. Acclimatize for 7–10 days after arrival (do not prune or repot yet), then shine.
